Important Status Note (2026)
As of October 31, 2025, the servers for Country Star and its sister game Beatstar were permanently shut down. The game is no longer playable online, and its presence on the Google Play Store is primarily for legacy reference or for users who previously had it installed, though the core features are no longer functional.
Rhythm Mechanics: Players tapped, swiped, and held tiles to the beat of authentic country tracks. The gameplay was heavily reflex-based, requiring focus to hit "Perfect+" scores.
Music Library: Included a wide variety of sub-genres, including Americana, Folk, Bluegrass, Alt-Country, Honky Tonk, and Southern Rock.
Progression: Players earned stars to unlock new songs and collected "merch" such as skins, emotes, avatars, and banners to customize their experience.
Social Elements: Included a leaderboard system where players could challenge friends and compare scores globally.
Following Supercell's full acquisition of Space Ape in late 2024, the music team spun off into a new studio called NextBeat. However, the majority of that team was subsequently acquired by Duolingo to help build out their music learning platform. This left both Beatstar and Country Star without a sustainable development team, leading to the decision to cease operations and turn off the servers in late 2025.
Developer: Space Ape Games (later NextBeat).
Platform: Android and iOS.
Rating: It held a high 4.7/5 star rating prior to its removal from active service.
Genres: Music, Rhythm, Casual.
While the game is now offline, it was highly regarded for its intuitive touch controls and high-fidelity audio quality, which set a standard for mobile rhythm games during its active years.
